What isLymphatic Facilitation?
Manual lymph drainage is a gentle soft tissue technique that targets the lymphatic system of the body. The techniques used focus on moving interstitial and lymphatic fluid into the lymph capillaries through the lymph vessels and nodes. Lymphatic fluid is made up of metabolic and muscular wastes created by red and white blood cells, lactic acid and other chemical reactions that occur within the body. Rhythmical, light, circular movements direct the fluid to the lymph nodes and vessels which are carried to the kidneys and eliminated through the urinary system.

Manual lymph drainage should not be performed on clients who suffer from:
- Acute Infectious diseases
- Early-onset of inflammatory disease
- Fever
- Serious venous and circulatory issues (ex: thrombosis, embolism, and phlebitis)
- Major cardiac problems (ex: acute angina pectoris, heart attack)
- Hemorrhage
- Malignant cancers
How often should I receive treatments?
Individual treatment plans and protocols are created by our massage therapists for clients with specific goals or seeking treatment of an ailment. 4 Elements Massage Clinic recommends 1 – 2 sessions per week for the first 4 weeks, with a re-assessment after 4 weeks. Special or advanced cases are referred out to a Certified Lymph-edema Therapist.
